It’s crazy how fast summer goes by when you’re working 5 days a week! Gone are the days of sleeping in until noon, hanging out with friends without a care in the world, and no responsibilities until school starts again. I can honestly say I have done nothing exciting in the past month of June and I’ve been thinking about ways to change that. Life’s too short to work all the time and only live on the weekends! So here’s my plan to having the best summer ever, even though I’m an adult now:
Weekend Getaways Are Your Best Friend
If you’re like me and love to travel but your workplace doesn’t give you much vacation time, then go on a weekend getaway! Sure, it’s short but you would be surprised at how much of a difference it makes to be in a different environment. Plus is it just me or does time go by slower when you break out of your routine and travel?

Day trips
If you can’t give up a weekend, then take a day trip to someplace a few hours away! Even when I lived in Rochester, NY which is a small city, I always found some interesting places to take day trips too and I never regretted it! Now that I’m in Dallas, I’ve been dying to go to the iconic Magnolia Market in Waco, TX this summer. Even the anticipation of a day trip is a great way to have a better summer.
_____
Try New Things
It’s easy to get caught up in work and then afterwards, just want to go home and unwind with Netflix but hey it’s summer! Go out and try that new restaurant, take that outdoors yoga class, or grab a drink at a rooftop bar.
_____
Throw a Midsummer Party
Is there anything that screams summer more than an outdoor party? All you need are your close friends, some good food, and pretty drinks (I’m loving this Ocean Breeze cocktail!). Don’t forget one of those polaroid cameras so you can take tons of cool pics and make summer memories that you can look back on!
Hope this post helped! What are some ways you make the best of summer even though you’re working? I’d love to know!

Yes to all these tips! I'm going to the beach for a weekend and so excited! Having a job makes travelling hard, but weekend and day trips are lifesavers!
