A few weeks ago for Memorial Day weekend, we decided to take a road trip to Houston and it was totally worth it! I don’t get to go out to Houston often but it’s a wonderful city with lots of things to do and see and of course – delicious food! Here’s what we did each day:
Saturday
We started driving from Dallas in the afternoon and got to Houston around 4pm. We lucked out with the weather – the entire month of May had CRAZY rain in Dallas yet the weather in Houston was actually sunny and NOT humid (which I was expecting lol). We decided to take advantage of the sunshine and head to the Kemah Boardwalk. It’s an adorable spot and for some reason not a lot of people talk about it! It’s the perfect spot to kick off summer since it’s right near the water and there’s a bunch of adorable restaurants with a great view, amusement park and shops. We spent the rest of the day there and it’s definitely a place that I recommend!
Sunday
On Sunday, we had brunch at Snooze (the wait was so long and honestly the food was just okay) and then wanted to cross off the Space Center from our bucket list! If you love space, science or just enjoy beautiful exhibits – this is a must. The Space Center is gigantic and we spent around 3-4 hours there and worth every penny. It was one of the highlights of the trip.
We ended the day with dinner at BB’s Tex-Orleans Cooking. Cajun food is so hard to find in Dallas but in Houston it’s everywhere and the shrimp and grits here was amazing! I wish they had a location in Dallas.
Monday
We didn’t have a lot of exciting plans on Monday and just decided to go with the flow. First we went to Sweet Paris for crepes which was adorable and a great spot for photos. This is another place that I wish they had in Dallas – the coffees and crepes are delicious! We went to the Sweet Paris in the Highland Village location and decided to explore the shops in the area including Restoration Hardware. I’ve never been and had to take a photo with the mirrors! Cliche, I know lol.
After walking off the crepes, we headed to Aqua S for some ice cream which I found out about through Instagram. While the ice cream menu is limited, the ice cream itself was delicious! We ended the day by visiting a boutique that I’ve also seen online many times called Tre’Sorelle with the most beautiful shop displays. (Note – this boutique has been renovated and no longer has the pink wall on the outside to take photos at.)
