2018 has been a big year for Versace! It’s been 20 years since Gianni Versace has passed away (rest in peace, legend) and the Versace house decided to create a tribute collection based on his original designs, in his honor. As a big fan of Gianni’s designs in the 90’s (I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to it here), I knew that I had to get something from this collection. For months, I went back and forth on what to buy and finally decided on the classic Medusa coin earrings. In case you feel like making a new addition to your new collection, here’s my honest opinion on them:
_____
Style: 10/10
These earrings were popular back on the 90s runways and these earrings are popular now and for a good reason: the Medusa logo! It’s a timeless design that won’t ever go out of style and you can wear for years. Plus you’ll get tons of compliments when you wear them! I would consider them to be a statement earring since they’re a bit larger than the average stud earrings and there’s no point in wearing any other jewelry pieces when you have these on.
_____
Comfort: 7/10
While they look like they would be heavy, they’re actually made out of a lightweight material so it won’t drag your ear lobes too much and give you a headache. My only complaint is the earrings will look like they’re hanging off of your ears due to the stud length. As you can see in the photo below, it’s positioned on the top of the earring instead of more towards the middle. If they had done it towards the middle then the earring would cover more of the ear lobe and it wouldn’t look as awkward. Hopefully I explained that right lol, it’s kinda hard to talk about earrings when you’re not an expert! Overall, it doesn’t bother me that much and I still love the earrings but it’s just something to keep in mind.

Price: 8/10
For a pair of luxury designer earrings, I thought the price was quite affordable and was expecting something outrageous. I purchased these for the original price of $300 through Luisaviaroma and received it in three days so I highly recommend making your designer purchases through there. While they’re not real gold or anything like that, I found the material to be high quality and can tell that it’s going to last me forever. If you’re not a fan of the price, then check out TheRealReal which has tons of vintage Versace earrings as well as Chanel which looks quite similar to these coin ones and you save a bit of money on them.
Unfortunately, they’re currently sold out on Luisaviaroma and also on the Versace website but check back often cause I heard it’s a part of the permanent collection. They also created the pink, blue, and black versions of these coin earrings as part of their new collection since it was so popular and I linked them at the end of this post! Not an earring fan? Check out the coin bracelet or necklace which is just as gorgeous.
Overall, I’m glad I got these earrings and wear them at least 3-4 times a week and get so many compliments on them! They’re a great reminder of my favorite era, the 90s and it feels quite special to me since they were one of Gianni’s original designs. I think the one thing I regret is not being able to purchase these in the Versace boutique since they’re sold out at their location in Northpark Mall. There’s just something so special about making a designer purchase in store and it would’ve really made the experience a whole lot better. Oh well! Next time 😉
Hope you enjoyed the post! Should I make more posts on luxury items? While I don’t make a bunch of luxury purchases, I feel like it’s nice to make reviews on them cause there just never seems to be enough information on them online. Let me know what you think!
