Working at a perfume shop has defiantly taught me a lot about perfume and how surprisingly many college girls don’t own at least one good designer fragrance! I consider having at least one designer perfume to be a good investment because most of the time, you only need one spritz and you won’t need to apply for the rest of the day unlike body sprays.
So here’s my guide to perfumes that almost every college girl out there would love or at least should try when making the investment for a designer scent…
Burberry Brit Sheer
If you’re just getting started on perfume and don’t know much about it, try this one first! It’s clean, feminine, and classic and is for the girl who’s carefree and youthful aka us, college girls! Notes include pink peony, peach blossom, and bright yuzu.
Armani Acqua di Gioia
If you’re into the more “oceany” scents or simply want to get a bunch of compliments from guys then you MUST try this one. It’s no surprise to me that so many guys love this one on girls since Acqua di Gio (the men’s cologne from the same designer) is a bestseller. Although by no means will you smell like a guy with this perfume, they do have a few similar notes. Notes include mint, lemon, jasmine, and pink pepper.
Marc Jacobs Daisy
Although Marc Jacobs has been coming out with different variations of this perfume such as “Daisy Delight” and “Daisy Eau So Fresh Delight” (seriously I can’t keep track anymore…), I still stick to the original Daisy. It’s girly yet not in a sugary, sweet sorta of way but something a bit more grown-up that has amazing lasting power. Notes are violet, ruby red grapefruit, and gardenia. Surprisingly none of the notes include daisies…strange.
Gucci Flora
If you’re looking for a fragrance that’s a bit more elegant yet isn’t “granny”, try Gucci’s Flora which also comes in many different variations of the original scent. Top notes include citrus, peony, and rose while middle and base notes are pink pepper and sandalwood.
Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue
I swear this stuff sells like water at the perfume shop I work at. This scent is the best for college girls because of it’s light, airy smell with a hint of citrus that’s not overpowering. I would consider this the perfect everyday perfume for a girl that’s always on the go. Top notes are granny smith apple, sicilian cedar, and bluebells while middle and base notes are jasmine and cedarwood.
Dior Addict Eau Fraiche
Fun, flirty, and sweet are the three perfect words to describe this fragrance. If you’re already a Dior perfume fan, you might’ve heard that this smells the same as the discontinued Dior Addict 2. Personally I’m not too sure, but nonetheless it’s a gorgeous light scent that’s perfect for the spring/summertime. Notes include lotus flower, orange, grapefruit and sandalwood.
Versace Bright Crystal
If you’re looking for something a bit stronger or simply want a “going out” perfume, look no further then Bright Crystal. Every time I wear it, it just makes me feel glamorous and rich yet doesn’t give me a headache like other “night” scents do. Plus look at the bottle, it just screams luxury. The top note is pomegranate, middle notes are magnolia and lotus while the base note is mahogany.
Prada Infusion D’Iris
After two years of working at a perfume shop, I’ve finally found my signature scent. I literally wear this every single day and I’m still not sick of it which is surprising since I smell different fragrances every day. Every time I wear it I think of laying down on the grass on a spring day with the breeze in the air and smelling fresh laundry haha. If you’re looking for a more in-dept review click here. Notes include mandarin, iris, lemon verbena, and sandalwood.
