Hi ladies! Switching things up today and talking about some fitness on the blog which is rare for me lol. Just like others during quarantine, I had to go from working out in a gym to working out from home and thought I’d share my review of The Sculpt Society 4-week beginner program. During the beginning of quarantine, I kept seeing ads everywhere for The Sculpt Society and the free 14-day trial. I downloaded the app to see what it was all about and fell in love with the concept of mixing sculpting/strength training with dance cardio.
Just to give you a little background, I’ve been working out since last summer and while I did make significant improvements with my weight since then, I still wasn’t happy with my body and was stuck in a fitness rut. I wanted to lose more weight but it seems that my body is stubborn and wasn’t reacting to my usual weight lifting and half hour cardio routine at the gym. I also felt that I was lacking structure (all I was doing was working out 3-4 times a week) and needed something more intense that would challenge me and push my body to transform.
With The Sculpt Society 4-week program, it gives you a weekly schedule of workouts (yes, the structure I needed!) and you have the option of either doing the beginner program (the one I did) or the advanced. On both versions, you are also working out 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) and the sixth day is optional. It is intense going from working out 3-4x a week like I was before and having to work out from Monday-Friday but it was exactly what I needed to kick my butt into shape.
For the beginner program, you do one workout per day. On Mondays and Thursdays, you do a 30 minute sculpt which is INTENSE and focuses on butt, legs, abs and arms. On Tuesdays and Fridays is 30 minute dance cardio (which also mixes in a little bit of legs or abs) and Wednesday is 50 minute full body which is CHALLENGING but hey you need that! What I love about The Sculpt Society is that you don’t need equipment – I was defiantly able to feel the burn without it. Also the music is good (there’s actually lyrics in the music and none of that typical home workout cheesy music) and Meghan’s personality is actually friendly and sweet instead of annoying or fake.
I’ll admit, the first week of doing this was BRUTAL. Every morning I would wake up sore and what sucks is that I would have another workout that day lol. I also found that the workouts are very fast-paced (but even Meghan says this during the video) and I had to rewind and do them again because I would miss the directions. As for the dance cardio, while it sounds like fun – it takes a lot of coordination which I didn’t know I lacked until this! lol. After the first week, I started getting used to it and while I still wake up sore most days – I actually started enjoying it and how quick it is.
Check out my results after 4 weeks of the beginner program #NoFilter:
Please ignore the messy room lol. Why are before and after photos always so unflattering? I’ve never posted anything like this before on my blog so at first I was a little worried, but I’m proud of my progress! As you can see, it’s not a HUGE transformation but you can defiantly tell I toned up, my stomach is flatter, my waist got smaller and my arms got more toned. Also, just a note I didn’t change my diet at all for this. I feel like I would’ve gotten better results if I did but this also proves how powerful the workouts are even without a diet! Overall, one of the biggest differences I noticed is that I gained strength and better posture and just feel so much better than when I went to the gym. I also got used to working out so much that on the days when I wasn’t working out, I felt like there was something missing in my life lol. It’s become a lifestyle change instead of being forced into doing it because I need to lose weight.
I’ve actually already moved onto the advanced 4-week program so if you’re interested, I’ll share my results after I complete that. I defiantly recommend this app to anyone that wants to kick their home workouts up a notch and need some structure. Even if you don’t want to do the 4-week program, there’s a whole library of workouts from Meghan on there (including her IG Lives!) and you can do those as a stand-alone workout.
