Who else loves working from home?! I’ll admit, it’s always been a dream of myn to work from home and one of the bright sides of quarantine is being able to experience that dream for a little bit. Just to give you a little background on what I do for a living – I work as a social media manager at a corporate company involving health and wellness. I normally do a 9-5 at an office everyday with a small team. Shifting from an office to my home wasn’t that challenging and overtime I was able to create my own routine which I thought I should share with you today. Believe it or not, working at home has made me more productive and even my creativity has improved!
Here’s what I do on a typical day:
9:30 AM – Wake up, do my morning skincare routine and make coffee.
10:00 AM – Daily Zoom meeting with my team
10:30 AM-11:45 AM – Do any critical work tasks first. I find that when I do the hardest work stuff early in the morning, I’m more alert and feel relieved when it’s taken care of. I hate procrastinating and having something on my mind the whole day so I like to cross it off my list. Then, I check through my company’s social media messages and schedule posts for the day/week.
12:30-1:00 PM – Normally this is the time that I have lunch when I’m at the office, but since I’m focusing on losing weight lately I grab a quick protein-rich snack and do my workout with The Sculpt Society app. I’m actually doing their 4-week beginner program and I’m going to be sharing my results on the blog soon! I highly recommend it if you need structure and a good workout that’s going to tone your body and make you stronger.
1:00-3:00 PM – Begin creating new posts for the upcoming weeks, design graphics and design emails that have to go out for the week. Normally, designing emails isn’t something that I typically do (or even have experience in!) but I was recently given this task and while it’s difficult I’m grateful for it. It’s really stretched my creative skills and forces me to think more about branding, design, and how to get everything to align with social media.
3:00-6:00 PM – This is usually when my day slows down and I’ll have a late lunch and most likely, a second cup of coffee lol. I’ll also schedule any tasks that are low priority around this time such as uploading video/audio files, continue answering messages and doing customer service tasks or working on creating posts for future holidays or projects.
After 6:00 PM – My “work” day is over! I usually try to take a half hour break around this time away from my phone and computer. Lately, I’ve been going on walks or even doing a quick meditation with The Sculpt Society app (and no I’m not sponsored by them, I just really like the app lol).
This is also the time when I can focus on blogging, scrolling through my own social media (although most times I don’t want to since I spend so much time on social for my job lol) or even taking the time to plan/shoot future posts.
