Face rollers have been super trendy lately and I finally decided to give into the hype and try one out for myself. While they come in different stones and have different features and benefits, I decided to try this $28 rose quartz one which is known for improving blood circulation and skin tone, reduces puffiness and wrinkles, and eliminates toxins while tightening the skin. Woah, that’s a lot! While it’s only been a week and I won’t write a full review yet on it since it’s too early to tell if it’s working or not – I decided to write a post on how I use it! Keep in mind – I’m not a skincare professional, this is just the method I use 🙂
STEP 1 – PLACE ROLLER IN THE FREEZER
Using a face roller feels 1000x better on your skin (especially during a hot Texas summer) when it’s been in the freezer for at least 15-20 minutes beforehand. Plus they always say, the cold helps with tightening the skin. Of course this is optional.
STEP 2 – ROLLING FOREHEAD, CHEEKS & NECK
First I start by dabbing my favorite moisturizer or serum all over the face (expect for your eyes, an eye cream should be used instead) and neck. Try not to rub in the product and let the roller do that for you. You’ll find that it’s much more gentler than your finger tips and soaks in easily.
With the larger stone on the roller, start by rolling large areas of your face such as your forehead and cheeks. You should roll outwards so the blood is draining away from your face and reduces puffiness. I roll each section slowly about 3 times. As for your neck, start from your collarbone and roll upwards. I always like to place special attention on my neck since I feel like it’s one of those areas that we never really pay enough attention to but as you age, those neck lines start to appear and you wish you had done something sooner!
STEP 3 – EYES
Next, dab eye cream onto your under eye and top of your lids. Switch to the smaller stone on your face roller and start from the inner corners of your eye and roll outwards away from your eyes. I recommend doing this gently and not pressing the stone down too harshly on your skin. This way, you won’t create any more wrinkles since this area is so delicate. Do this about 3 times as well.
And that’s it! If you see any redness, that’s totally normal since it means that the blood is circulating. You’ll be surprised to find that when you touch your skin, the moisturizer/serum is already soaked into your skin and it’s completely dry. I find that this rolling method works so much better than using my fingertips and is much more gentler.
What do you think about face rollers? Are they a part of your skincare routine?
