Hi everyone! I apologize for the delay with this post – but it’s finally here! A review of my first cruise with Royal Caribbean to Bermuda. I was lucky enough to go with the company that I work for but I’ll admit – I didn’t know what to expect. Over the years, I’ve always heard how much people love cruises and go multiple times a year so I was excited. Plus it’s a new experience! That’s something that I’ve been focusing on lately in my life – experiencing things for the first time just like I did when I was a kid. It makes time go slower and breaks the monotone schedule of being an adult. Let’s get started…

We took an early morning flight to New Jersey and went to the port right after we landed. Since we got to the port early, the check-in process and security was super quick and seamless. Also, I loved the fact that you can just give them your suitcases, they’ll put tags on it and bring them to your room later – it just makes the process so much easier!
Our room was clean, cozy and most importantly – had a gorgeous small balcony overlooking the water! Since we were leaving from Cape Liberty, New Jersey, we were able to see the Brooklyn Bridge pass by as we were leaving. Talk about an amazing view! I honestly couldn’t get enough of it and I highly recommend getting a balcony, it just makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable.
P.S. make sure to get breakfast delivered to your room and have it on the balcony.
I will say there was one thing I didn’t like about our room and that was not having an iron. You’re also not allowed to bring a portable steamer so how are you supposed to get rid of wrinkles from your clothes?! It just felt strange to me. One night, I wanted to wear a white dress which ended up having tons of wrinkles so I actually soaked the dress in water and used a blow-dryer to get rid of it which miraculously worked!

There’s a good amount of entertainment on the cruise such as a spa, a casino, entertainment shows, bars, restaurants, multiple indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym, rocking climbing wall and even morning yoga on the top deck!
While at first, it seemed as if there was tons of to do – for some reason after the third day on the ship I felt as if we had done everything exciting that you can do. But maybe that’s because there wasn’t enough for a fashionista to do? lol. One of the disappointing parts of this cruise ship was the lack of shops. They had 3 jewelry shops, a duty-free cosmetic shop, and one small clothing shop. Don’t get me wrong, you defiantly won’t be bored but it was nice to finally be in Bermuda on the third day.

I had no complaints about the food…it was simply amazing! There was all-you-can-eat pizza (the reason why I’m trying to lose weight now lol), sushi, multiple coffee shops, a Johnny Rockets and even a place where you can get macaroons. My favorite was the 3-course dinners that we had in the formal room every night with my company. There was so many great options for dinner like salmon, steak, calamari and the best part…you can order as much as you want. 2 desserts? No problem. I also enjoyed getting dressed up for formal night – my day to day life doesn’t require a glam dress so it was nice to switch it up.

When we finally arrived in Bermuda, we had a full day to explore (the next day, we had to be back on the ship by 4pm so technically a day and a half) so we headed off to the beach to relax and checked out some of the shops and restaurants. It felt refreshing to be off the ship and on land – it really makes you see things differently! I fell in love with the pink buildings, turquoise water and even the adorable telephone booth that’s right next to the palm trees. Only in Bermuda!
The next day we took a ferry to Hamilton and sat on the top deck where I got the worst sunburn ever but the view was worth it. Hamilton was a more quiet area of Bermuda but filled with colorful houses, shops and filled with historical tourist areas such as their town hall which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

For my first cruise, it was an enjoyable experience and I can finally see why people like cruises so much! It’s a very “organized” experience compared to traveling and flying out to new countries on your own. While on a cruise, they give you excursions and tons of options on what you can do both on and off the cruise and everything is just “right there”. You don’t really have to put too much thought into your trip because everything is planned out. I highly recommend it for anyone traveling with family and wants a more relaxing vacation.
After a few days though, I did feel like we were just doing the same old things on the cruise and there could’ve been more options as far as entertainment goes. 5 days felt like it was just enough but I wonder what 3 day cruises are like? Maybe that would’ve been better. Overall would I ever go on a cruise again? Defiantly!
Have you been on a cruise before? What did you think? Let me know below!
