The Velvet Bomber Jacket

You know the holidays are here when velvet starts appearing everywhere! I came across this navy blue velvet bomber jacket a few weeks ago and thought it was perfect to wear to the office paired with a wool pencil skirt. It’s an unexpected combination since bomber jackets are considered to be more casual but I love experimenting with office fashion and re-defining a “professional” wardrobe. I’ve been wanting to create an office wardrobe guide for a few months now but just haven’t gotten around to it. Is that something you would like to see on the blog?

As for this outfit’s color scheme, navy blue and grey is a refreshing change compared to the black and white that you typically see people wear in the office. What are some of your go-to colors for the office? Do you have a strict dress code? About 7 months ago I started my job as a social media specialist at a start-up and the dress code was so relaxed. I’m talking…you can wear a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers to work and no one would say anything. Now that it’s a bigger company, a dress code was enforced so now we can’t even wear blue jeans unless it’s Friday which makes things so much harder haha.
