“Fashion is expensive. Style is not. Some of the most stylish girls I know are certainly not the wealthiest.” – Nina Garcia
We all want expensive clothes and designer handbags and always assume that this is what guarantees “style”. It’s natural to associate being stylish with anything that comes with an ridiculous price tag. We just always want what we can’t have so we praise people on social media who have these things and consider them to be at the top of the fashion pyramid. Take for example certain fashion bloggers on Instagram that are considered “It-Bloggers” because of all the views they have. Many of them I’ve noticed wear outfits that are quite easy to pull together and doesn’t take much effort or talent. So what makes the pictures so popular? The expensive clothes. They’ll wear handbags with logos and the latest shoes from designers and get all the views because it’s not something that everyone can have.
It’s easy to look fashionable when wearing expensive clothes, but the truly stylish are the ones who can make even the cheapest of clothes look good. There are many “wealthy” fashionistas that will mix and match their high-end clothes with more affordable pieces. Take for example, Olivia Palermo. She’s known for her impeccable style but she also adds pieces from Zara and H&M to her outfits. I’m a firm believer that if someone truly has a talent for fashion then they’re able to pull off any cheap item and make it look expensive.
Aim to live in this world by being different. It’s easy to give into trends when you love fashion but remember that trends don’t represent good style. The most iconic designers and fashionistas are the ones who went past people’s comfort zones and created something different. Don’t just assume that you need to spend thousands of dollars in order to look stylish. Develop your own definition of style and don’t base it off what’s popular on Instagram. Style is much more than that: it’s something that comes from within.
Until next time lovelies,

So many great points here! I whole-heartedly think trends do not represent good style also, it's about the person. I used to just try and copy trends for the sake of it to be "on-point" or whatever, but now I've come to realise it's so much better to just be yourself, have fun with fashion and genuinely love and enjoy styles instead of being try hard <3
