It feels like it’s been so long since I’ve reviewed a beauty product! I remember when I first started this blog, it was more beauty rather than fashion. Anyways, I’ve always wanted to try the original Moroccan Oil line that started the craze but the price always made me search for something cheaper. When I ran out of both shampoo and conditioner (how did that happen?!) this past week, I decided to take a chance and try it out.
The Moroccan oil line comes in three different shampoos and conditioners: smoothing, clarifying, and moisturizing. Since I can’t actually use the clarifying one frequently (only once every 2 weeks according to the directions) and I’m iffy about moisturizing shampoos so I went with the smoothing one.
The first thing you’ll notice when you use the shampoo is the strong cologne-like smell. It may be bothersome to some, but since I work at a perfume shop it doesn’t bother me as much. Once you get past the smell, you’ll notice it lathers better than most sulfate-free shampoos (I hate how they don’t lather! ugh!) and doesn’t leave your hair dry. The last shampoo that I was using was sulfate-free yet seemed to really take out all the moisture in my hair.
If you’re someone like me who needs that extra moisture, look no further than this conditioner. I am obsessed with how only a small amount of conditioner can moisturize all my damaged ends. I was quite impressed since I always use conditioner more than shampoo because of how dry my hair is! With this, you only need a small dime-size amount and you’re good to go.
As for the smoothing factor, it made my hair much softer and I noticed less fly-aways in my hair once I came out of the shower. After I blow dried my hair straight, I found that I didn’t need to use much anti-frizz serum on my hair because my hair already looked smooth enough! What really made me love this product was when I went outside on a hot, humid day and my straight hair stayed straight with no frizz the whole time! That’s the first time that’s ever happened to me. Seriously why haven’t I tried this stuff sooner?!
Overall, I’m going to continue using this line and more products from them because I’m defiantly impressed! I just loved the way my hair looked and felt and I haven’t been impressed with a hair product in a long time. The price is a bit steep at $28 per bottle but I think it will last me for quite a while.
Until next time lovelies,
