Hey guys! I hope everyone had a great Memorial day weekend! When it comes to my hair I typically wear it straight and adore the blow out look that you typically receive from the salon after a nice cut and color. After much trial and error, I finally learned how to perfect the same look at home and wanted to share the tips with you in case anyone else is having trouble with it like I was before.
1.) The Right Technique
In order to learn how the proper technique is done I watched a bunch of different videos from Youtube and found Mimi from Luxy Hair’s video to be the most easiest to understand and do myself. She’s clear, precise, doesn’t ramble on and on and has naturally curly hair so she’s defiantly a winner in my book. Click here for the link. Honestly there’s not much to the technique and once you get past it feeling like an arm workout, you start to be able to do it quicker. Practice makes perfect!
2.) The Right Brush
When it comes to my blow out, since I have thick hair, I like to use a round brush with bristles that’s also heat activated so it can dry my hair quicker. Currently I’m using Brush Lab’s Ceramic Curls 3 and a 1/2 inch Thermal Round brush which you can see here on the Ulta website. It comes in a variety of different sizes and I’ve heard multiple Youtubers rave about the product and I’m in love with it! The grip handle does hurt my hands at times from twisting the brush around so much but overall it’s the best brush I’ve come across.
3.) The Right Blow Dryer
Personally, I don’t think you need to spend hundreds on a fancy blow dryer when there’s so many out there for affordable prices that can work just as good. The key is to find a ceramic/ionic blow dryer that’s going to make a big difference when it comes to the shine of your hair and how quickly it dries. Check out places like Sallys (which is where I bought myn) and Ulta for good deals on high-end blow dryers.
4.) The Right Products
This one is tough because not all products fit all hair types. It might take some time to find the right product for you but my HOLY GRAIL hair product is Bumble & Bumble’s Straight Blow Dry which you can see here. It’s a cream formula that you apply to your hair when wet and helps to protect your hair from the heat while at the same time helping you to straighten your hair quicker. I swear by this stuff and I’m sure this product is the only reason my hair looks like I just came out of the salon, as cheesy as it sounds!
I hope these tips helped in some way although some of them may seem fairly obvious. I didn’t know much about this stuff before researching it so I thought it would be a nice guide for beginners trying it out at home for the first time.
