Last month, we got to shoot our engagement photos (after rescheduling once because of constant rain in Dallas! Crazy!) and I just had to share some of my favorite beauty products that I used for my engagement shoot. For shoots like this, I prefer makeup that’s long-lasting (we shot for 2-3 hours) and can stand hot/humid weather. I actually did my makeup at 8am on this day, went to work and then finally took photos at 5pm and my makeup still looked fresh with minimal touch-ups! Here’s what I used:
Neutral & Matte Eyeshadows
Since I wanted the photos to be timeless, I wanted my makeup look to reflect that and choose neutral eyeshadows that would work with multiple outfits and look flattering in photos. I would also recommend using matte eyeshadows which shows up better in photos (layer it with eyeshadow primer or a cream eyeshadow!) and is easier to work with if you’re not an expert in makeup like me! I used this Bobbi Brown eye palette which looks good on any eye color.
Matte Liquid Lipstick
Did I mention the day we were taking photos it was ridiculously humid and hot? I didn’t want my makeup to melt off, especially my lipstick so I choose a matte liquid lipstick that’s smudge-free and dries quick. I didn’t have to reapply the whole shoot and it worked great for shots where we kissed! lol. The only downside is that it’s hard to take off! That’s how you know it’s good. I used the Kylie Posie K Lip Kit.
Lashes
Lashes are a MUST for photos! It doesn’t matter how simple or minimal your makeup look is, lashes will enhance it and look amazing in close ups! I used the Ardell Magnetic Naked Lashes from the drugstore and it worked like a charm – just remember to cut the ends and adjust it to your eye shape.
Setting Spray
Everyone needs a good setting spray in their makeup collection. For this look, I used Mac Fix+ Spray (a classic!) and comes in travel sizes too when you’re on the go. I’ve re-purchased this spray so much over the years, I even used it during my high school prom!
Below are all the products I used to achieve this look! What are some of your must-have products for photoshoots? Let me know!
