Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year! There’s nothing better than a new beginning. Despite everything that was going on in 2020, I was fortunate enough to have some bright moments like revamping my blog + content, losing weight (this was a big one for me!) and becoming more transparent and sharing my story/struggles more. I can’t wait to kick it up a notch in 2021 and have been contemplating what my resolutions should be. I’ve noticed when I have more specific goals, I tend to achieve them easily compared to having more “vague” goals (ex: losing weight vs. working out 4 times a week).
Here are my 2021 resolutions:
Meditate Consistently – In 2020, I picked up meditating as a way to deal with stress and felt so much better. It was much more effective when I was consistent and actually blocked off a section of my day to doing it. Sadly, I fell off the wagon especially while juggling my full-time job and I hope to become more consistent again in 2021. Maybe even take a meditation class? So many possibilities with this!
Spend Less Time On My Phone – This is a difficult one. My full-time job as a social media manager and as a blogger at night, results in TONS of phone time. Yet I started to put more effort into this especially on Christmas Day. On Christmas, I specifically avoided my phone and only used it when I wanted to take a photo or video. No social media, nothing. Even though it was only one day, it was such a NICE CHANGE to live in the moment.
Continue Getting Rid of Debt – Normally, I don’t like to discuss finance on the blog or online. It’s a tricky topic and I’m not an expert on it! But in 2020, I was able to make huge changes to the way I was spending and saving and was able to get rid of some of my debt. It was such a sigh of relief for me, there’s no purchase that feels as good as paying off a bill! LOL. While I know it’s impossible to get rid of ALL of my debt in 2021 (hello college and car loan!), I want to continue making huge improvements and sacrificing to come closer to my goal of being debt-free while living a balanced life.
Taking More Time Off – Vacations are something that I don’t do enough of. In 2020, I took 3 days off (after 2 years of never taking a vacation at my full-time job) and it did wonders. I know that sounds crazy! But I realized how important it is for your mental health. Even if it’s something as simple as a 3-day weekend, it can help. I’ve realized the hard way that life is too short to be burned-out all the time and that you can’t operate at your best if you don’t take breaks once in a while. Self-care and rest are a huge focus for me in 2021.
