One of my favorite movies of all time is Breakfast at Tiffany’s and while many of us are familiar with Holly Golightly’s aka Audrey Hepburn’s iconic little black dress with pearls look, I thought I’d switch it up and get creative. I always adored her sleep look which consists of an oversized men’s shirt and a gorgeous Tiffany blue sleep mask which I thought I’d show you how to create from scratch! Keep in mind: I’ve never made my own sleep mask before so this was new territory for me but I enjoyed the challenge and found that it was much easier than I thought it would be! Of course you always could just buy a dupe from Etsy or some other expensive place but hey, it’s just so much more fun making it and works perfectly if it’s a last minute costume! Here’s how I did it:
For the eyes, I couldn’t find any templates online to help me so I studied Holly’s mask from pictures and drew this shape and placed it on the mask in order to make sure that it would be a good size before placing it on the felt paper and cutting around it as well.
Step 3 – Now it’s time to glue the eyelids with a hot glue gun. On Holly’s mask, the eyelids are actually more 3-D looking and rounded so I recommend slightly bringing the ends closer to each other in order to make it look like a realistic eyelid. Did I describe that right? Oh well, just take a look at the photos below and you’ll see what I mean haha.
Step 4 – Next, using the gold glitter glue once again, draw a thick line across the bottom of the eyelids. In order to make it as straight as possible, I did two thin lines.
Step 5 – Lastly, with the gold sequin trim, use the hot glue gun to place it around the outline of the mask. I bought about 2 yards of sequin trim and glued the leftover piece to the back of the mask in order to create the headband.
That’s it, you’re done! A quick and easy Halloween costume which will make you the most classiest person at the party!
