During my college years (that sounds really weird to say since I just graduated lol) I always depended on Ebay for some extra money and a way to get rid of old clothes in my closet. I’ve been lucky enough to make some good money off of it and at one point, I remember going to the post office at least once a week to ship stuff! I highly recommend giving it a try before you start selling stuff on places like Poshmark or even worse…Plato’s Closet/Clothes Mentor which gives so little for designer clothes. Here are my best tips for getting started on Ebay and getting the most for your clothes:
Put Everything On Bid
In the past couple of years that I’ve been using Ebay, I’ve never sold anything with buy it now and always put it on bid. It increases your chances of having multiple sellers “fighting” for that one product and you’ll most likely sell it for a higher price that you had originally posted. Plus it’s fun to see the price go up haha.
Aim To Sell It For 5-7 Days
Ebay gives you the option to choose how many days you want to sell a product and while I know it’s tempting to sell it in one or two days, try to aim for 5-7 days in order to get as many people as possible to view your product. Plus people are usually indecisive and need some time to think if they want to buy a product or not so having it up a few more days makes a huge difference.
Clear Titles & A Good Description
Think about how people search for products on Ebay and make sure to give a good title which includes the size as well as a good description. In the description I always mention that the clothing item comes from a pet and smoke free home (which is true in my case but don’t lie if it isn’t haha) and that the buyer should feel free to message you with any questions.
Offer Cheap Shipping
While it’s nice to offer free shipping for your buyers (and might cause your products to sell quicker), it can get expensive for the seller so at least offer your buyers the cheapest shipping option. I usually go with USPS first class mail or priority mail!
Hope these tips helped! Do you use any other places to sell your clothes that I haven’t mentioned? Let me know below!
