Hey guys! So this is the sequel to my post “The Confessions of a Small-Town Fashion Blogger” which you can still read here. Believe it or not, there are some perks to being a fashion blogger in a small town so I thought I should talk about some of them:
No Crowded Areas – Okay, so there are some areas that get busy and that I would never want to shoot at, but overall it’s pretty quiet here in Rochester. It’s a city that you don’t see many people walking around at, so you can get away with shooting at most locations without being photobombed.
Blog Popularity – Since there aren’t many fashion blogger in smaller cities, you have an advantage when it comes to quicker exposure and attention towards your blog. The less competition, the more likely your blog will become popular at least locally.
Finding Beauty – Since you run out of good places to shoot, you have to start being creative with the backgrounds in your photos. This leads to you wandering around town and trying to find beauty in places where people might not always see it. It may seem frustrating to some, but I love the challenge and I ended up finding some amazing places that I never would’ve discovered if I lived in a big city.
Dressing Unique – Small towns may have fewer chain stores to shop from but that doesn’t mean you can’t stand out in one of a kind clothes from local boutiques!
Hope you enjoyed this post! Any others you can think of that I might’ve missed?
Until next time lovelies,
-Ruya
