Gel nails have been around for quite a while now but it wasn’t up until a few months ago that I took an interest in them. I’m usually someone who gets acrylic nails done just for special occasions yet hate the way my nails look after I get them removed: rough, damaged, thin and brittle! On top of it I have short, square nails so there isn’t much I can do with my nails other than acrylics which give them a bit more length. My love for gel nails actually started on PurseForum (or forum.purseblog.com) where ladies were posting pictures of their gel nails which were super shiny, long-lasting, and didn’t damage (or look tacky!) like acrylic nails did. The best part is that it doesn’t chip which is my biggest pet peeve! I was hooked and even contemplated buying my own UV or LED lamp and doing gel nails at home until I realized something: I’ve never actually gotten it done before so how would I know what it’s like? I’m judging it all based on pictures! So my friend and I decided to go visit my nail lady and I couldn’t be happier with the results:
The photo above is actually a picture she took for her facebook album since she decided to experiment with my nails today. I wanted a silver-glittery gel polish on my ring finger and thumb but she was out of it so she decided to mix silver powder glitter and clear gel to make her own. In case you’re wondering the pink color is Gelish’s Sugar and Spice, perfect for every girly-girl out there!
As you can see, the silver is extremely shiny and eye-catching and I love how smooth gel nails are! She said it would last 2 weeks for me and once it’s taken off, it would actually leave my nails stronger so we’ll see how it goes! For my first experience I’m defiantly impressed and left with wanting more!
