I finally got around to posting a more detailed review of my new Louis Vuitton Personalized Speedy 30 bag! For my very first designer handbag, I wanted something that was classic and timeless – but also had a unique touch. For a few years now, I’ve been aware of the personalized services that LV offers both online and in stores. Yet I haven’t seen any reviews on personalized LV items and very few photos online of the end results. It can be a bit intimidating getting something done that’s custom (especially with your initials on it) since it can’t be undone and the odds of you selling it are slim. Before making this purchase, I really thought hard about the colors, design and what style bag to personalize. It’s a tough decision! Luckily, it turned out even better than I had imagined. Here’s my full review on the experience:
The Personalizing Experience: 4/5
LV offers a selection of handbags, travel bags, small leather goods, timepieces and even fragrance to get personalized. A majority of their handbags consist of more classic pieces that are a part of their permanent collection. Other than their Bumbag (fanny pack) and Palm Springs Mini backpack, there isn’t a lot of trendy pieces to personalize but personally I prefer it that way. You know for sure, you’re getting a piece that’s classic and won’t age as the years goes by. They offer 2 different types of personalization: monogram and stamps.
I’m obsessed with the monogram styles which consist of stripes, your initials, choice of colors and even a choice of the inner lining! As for the stamps, there’s a huge variety that you can choose from such as travel stamps (this is cute on a carry on or duffel bag), fun icons, LV logos and even stamps with your own initials on it. The stamps are definitely more colorful and trendy and you can choose however many you want.
You can either order online through Louisvuitton.com or go into store and a sales consultant can guide you through it. Either way, it will be ordered online but the perk of going in store is that a sales consultant will have a small board filled with all of the stamps, monograms, colors etc. so you can see what it actually looks like in person. They can also show you the bag that you’ll be ordering (without the design on it of course) which I needed since I’ve never bought a Speedy bag before and wasn’t sure what size to get. The Speedy 30 ended up being perfect – not too big but not too small. You also have the option of getting a strap for it but I decided not to.
The actual process of designing it is super easy and it will give you a visual of what it will look like online so there won’t be any surprises. I probably experimented with a few different designs and color combos before going into the store to purchase. Also – despite the website saying it takes 8 weeks for the design to be created and sent to your home – for me, it only took 6 weeks and was shipped to the store (safer in my opinion). I’m not sure if that’s because of luck or if it’s because I choose to ship it to the store but it’s worth a try!
Style & Results: 5/5
The handbag ended up looking even better in real life than online! I decided to go with a gorgeous green color and cream with my initials in cream as well. I wanted the monogram to stand out from the classic brown design so this color combination was perfect. I also chose to make the inside lining the same green color. I always recommend choosing a light color for the lining so that way you have an easy time finding things. As for the Speedy 30 style, it’s comfortable to carry around all day and fits so much inside! It’s the perfect style handbag for my very first designer bag.
Price: 4/5
The price of designer handbags is never really cheap is it? I found the price of this to actually be reasonable especially with the personalization being complimentary! Plus compared to Chanel (with the cheapest bags starting around 2k-3k), it’s much more affordable. Some people were saying that the quality of Speedy bags has declined and while I’m no expert, I still found it to be high quality and durable. I can tell it’s something that’s going to last for years and look even better with more use.
Thanks for reading! If you live in Dallas and need a good SA at Louis Vuitton, I highly recommend Monique at Northpark Mall. She made the whole process so smooth and effortless.
